Kansas City, MO—Kansas City authorities are investigating after the homes of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce were broken into in early October. Mahomes’ home was reportedly targeted first on Oct 6, around midnight, followed by Kelce’s within hours during the early morning on Oct 7, suggesting a possible connection between the incidents.
“It’s frustrating, disappointing,” Mahomes told reporters, reacting to the break-in at his Belton, Missouri, residence, adding that the incident had raised serious safety concerns.
Mahomes did not disclose whether or not he and his wife Brittany and their two kids were home but did comment that he was “sure at some point that will talked about.”
A document from the Leawood police department acquired by KSHB 41 reportedly listed a total of $21,000 in damages, $20,000 of which was cash from Kelce’s residence. Earlier this year, Kelce reportedly had to move residences due to safety concerns, heightening the impact of this recent break-in.
The break-ins occurred the day before and the day of the Chiefs’ 26-13 home victory over the New Orleans Saints on Oct 7.
The SuperBowl winning team fans and the local community have shown strong support, hoping for swift justice and heightened security for the players.
