It’s a family affair at Syracuse! Four-star guard Kiyan Anthony, following in the legendary footsteps of his father Carmelo Anthony, has officially committed to the Orange, his father’s alma mater, bringing a fresh dose of Anthony magic to the Dome.
Anthony officially announced his commitment to Syracuse on his father’s show, “7 PM in Brooklyn,” alongside his parents Lala and Carmelo.
Elder Anthony is often referred to as a Syracuse legend for leading the Orange to their first and only NCAA Championship in 2003 during his one-and-done college season. Following his iconic lone college season he then went on to play 19 seasons in the NBA before retiring in May of 2023.
While Syracuse first offered Anthony on Nov 13, 2022, he still followed a proper recruitment process, touring several Power Four universities. Subsequently, he had his first official visit to SU on Oct 19, 2023. On Oct 1, Anthony narrowed his choices to three schools—Syracuse, USC, and Auburn—ultimately deciding on Syracuse.
“Ultimately, it came down to my relationship with the staff,” Anthony told ESPN. “From day one, when they started recruiting me, they made me feel like it was family. My dad’s name on the facility is special, but I want to go in there and create my own name, and I’ve already done that through my dedication in the offseason, with early-morning practices, playing at camps, playing on the circuit.”
Anthony joins a talented incoming class for the Orange, which includes five-star forward Sadiq White; three-star wing Aaron Womack; and Australian prospect Luke Fennel.
