
The creator of the hit HBO show “Insecure” has taken a step away from the big screen to add to her extensive portfolio. Beyond Hollywood, Issa Rae is venturing into the realm of sports ownership.
The businesswoman, producer, and actress has become a member of the ownership group of San Diego FC, the newest Major League Soccer team in the city.
“Soccer is a universal language that has the power to bring people together, and I look forward to contributing to San Diego FC’s journey as we make history in MLS,” she said in a statement.
Rae known for her commitment to amplifying diverse voices is now among influential group partners who share a common dedication to community engagement.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Issa Rae to the SDFC family,” said SDFC CEO Tom Penn.
The partnership was made possible through Pave Investments, a private African investment firm, making Rae’s connection that much more special.
