It is that time of year. No, not pumpkin spice lattes – its fantasy football season! Fantasy leagues are all the talk everywhere you go, but there is one league that you may not have heard of that is doing some amazing things. Its name is Big League Impact, and as the name suggests – it is making an impact in communities at home and abroad through the love of fantasy football.
Big League Impact (BLI) is a non-profit that hosts fantasy football leagues run by local professional baseball players. Currently, BLI hosts eight leagues from teams around the MLB. Each league is led by a major league player – like Hunter Pence or David Wright. So, how does it raise money? That is the best part. It works by inviting fans to join and be a part of the league. With high demand and limited space, the fee to play is steep. But, that cost goes to charity, and the VIP experience each donor receives is one any fan would love: a live draft with a player from their team, watching batting practice, team swag, and much more.
In its fourth year, the charity fantasy league seems to resonate with fans. Just last year, BLI hit the one million dollar mark. For a list of the various charities, to see what teams and players are involved, or to simply learn more, you can visit their website here or follow them on Twitter!
