The Rush Wedding

 

About 10 years ago before the Jayhawk alumni was an N-B-A champion, Brandon Rush poked Ashlee Parkinson on Facebook for about two weeks until she decided to give him a shot.

Since they’re both the homebody types and prefer intimate settings, it was no surprise that the couple hit it off. They both also love to travel and try new things. Ashlee and Brandon dated for eight years and even had two children together before they got engaged.

It was All-Star break, which fell on Valentine’s Day that year and the family took a trip to Mexico. From the private dinner by the water with all Ashlee’s favorite foods on the menu, her favorite flowers as the centerpiece, to the candles and roses in the hotel suite with Anthony Hamilton playing in the background.

Ashlee said she just knew she was going to get a ring that night… but she didn’t!

“He knew that I would be expecting it, he actually waited until we got back home and had our eldest son Braelyn, be a part of the surprise. Brandon got down on one knee in his underwear and asked me to marry him while Braelyn got on his knee as well and asked me to marry his daddy”.

“Honestly, I was happy it happened the way it did, instead of a big production in Mexico, because it was his way”.

Brandon and Ashlee got married exactly nine years to the date in which they began communicating on Facebook, August 13th, 2016.
